Nikolai Kislokov was born in a woodland environment far to the north reaches of a forgotten land. His tribe of primal bros elected him as an elder, which is strange because Nikolai was young at the time, around 34. He excelled at hunting and preparing meat. His tribe was known as the Followers of the Skulking Panther. He did not like their tradition of stealth and sneaking to accomplish their wars and hunting, he preferred to fight face to face and survive by wits and brawn. His impulsive leadership style and edgy behavior inevitably led to his banishment. When he left, he was approached by a panther spirit. He rejected it, not wanting to have a spirit companion that was his antithesis. He moved to the city of Impiltur, hoping its beating up its scum and villainy would give him something to do, and keep his wits sharp. After staying a while at the city of Impiltur, he ran into a strange spirit while in the woods far out of town. It was reptillian in nature and about 5 feet tall. It charged him and tackled him to the ground. Only after being wrestled to the ground did the spirit accept Nikolai as its master. After honing his ability to communicate with the primal spirits, he learned that the spirit that had chosen him was a velociraptor, a speedy ancestor of the drake. He returned to Impiltur and lived his days in peace, if somewhat saddened at not being with his tribe. One day he was jumped by a gang of Drow while walking down a narrow alley. He was overcome by them, but not before killing two and injuring one more. The remaining drow restrained him and stuffed him into a very large bag, which they then punctured and Nikolai was transported to a strange world, outside of a castle. He walked a few miles and ran into a party of adventurers.
After being banished, Nikolai didn’t know what to do with himself. Now that he’s among fellows adventurers, his life has become devoted to learning the unknown, exploring ruins, and delving into dungeons. He makes up for the hole that his tribe left in him by leading his new comrades to victory and fortune. He looks to help people where he can, and generally wants to make a name for himself and better the physical world before he becomes one of the primal spirits.
